Off-beat

When your rhythm gets

terrupted
even a 
little bit,
the world tilts in
a very upset-
ting way.

Emotions
and half-meant thoughts
slide off the shelves in
your mind,
crash
onto the floor, and
the shattered pieces hit
the people around you.

There is a
new, elusive cadence out 
there somewhere.

The beat will settle in
eventually.

Until then,
non-metrical life drums on.
